Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber, the Senate, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack all the service chiefs.
This is because, as far as the Senate is concerned, they have failed to secure Nigerians.
The call on Tuesday followed the recent murder of 43 farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator representing Borno Central District, and former governor of the state, Kashim Shettima had raised a motion on the brutal killing of the rice farmers.
The Senate said Buhari should replace the security chiefs with new ones “immediately.”
The Senators also asked the President to restructure and remodel the nation’s security architecture.

Furthermore, members of the red chamber called for a probe into the allegations of corruption and financial leakage levelled against some top hierarchy of the military, even as they encouraged the President to negotiate with Nigeria’s neighbours multinational cooperation in order to strengthen the war against insurgency.
The upper chamber directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, NEMA and NEDC to provide succour and psychological support for the families of the murdered farmers.
