The Police is in the process of having former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrashid Maina extradited from Niger Republic.
Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement.
Maina was picked up on Monday evening in a town in Niger by Operatives of intelligence service in collaboration with men of anti-corruption agency in Nigeria.
He is standing trial on charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of N2bn.
He was granted bail in November 2019, but was able to perfect the bail in May 2020 after the court reviewed the conditions and Ali Ndume, the All Progressives Congress Party (APC), Senator representing Borno South agreed to stand surety for him.
He however, jumped bail having failed to attend trial since September 29, 2020.

Reacting to the development, Mba said: “Following the arrest of former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrashid Abdullahi Maina in Niamey, Niger Republic, the Nigeria Police Force is perfecting extradition processes of the fugitive to Nigeria to enable him face trial in pending criminal proceedings against him.
“Abdulrashid Maina, who was declared wanted by a court of competent jurisdiction, was arrested last night, 30th November, 2020 through the collaborative efforts of the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL NCB, Abuja and their Nigerien counterpart.
“He is currently in a detention facility in the Niger Republic awaiting the completion of the extradition processes.
“The Force assures the citizens, that there shall be no hiding place for any suspect, no matter how highly placed.”
