The Senator Representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, Istifanus Gyang, and member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau, at the House of Representatives, Mr. Solomon Maren, have condemned the killing of 12 persons in the state by gunmen.
The two lawmakers in separate statements on Thursday called on the security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the ‘evil and terrorist’ act were brought to book.
Recall that yet to be identified gunmen killed 12 persons in an attack on Kumbun community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state on Thursday morning.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Protocol, Musa Ashoms, Sen. Gyang, who is currently on an assignment outside the country, described the killing “as an act of terrorism and a reversal to the dark days saying that “All citizens of Plateau should, with one voice, condemn and denounce this wickedness.”

He said “Security agencies must act fast and apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice and to take all appropriate steps to secure law abiding citizens.”
Gyang commiserated with the Government and people of the state and prayed for the repose of the souls of all victims of terror.
Mr. Maren, in his own statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Isah Abdullahi, described the attack as “evil, barbaric and unfortunate”.
“My heart is torn to shreds and I deeply feel the pain of these poor families.
“We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that any person or group of persons found culpable in this attack is decisively dealt with.
“They will not be allowed to go unpunished. They shall face the full wrath of the law,” he added.
He promised to work with all key stakeholders to ensure the security of lives and property of the people of Mangu/Bokkos constituency.
Maren, however, called for calm, urging residents of the community to be law abiding and security conscious.
