Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency said the gas leakage has affected areas such as Computer Village, Awolowo Road, Oba Akran, Medical Road and Anifowoshe, all in Ikeja.

It was learnt that one of the bulldozers burst the pipeline during a demolition exercise taking place in the area.
NEMA warned residents and traders to stay off the area to avoid explosions in the area.

“I want to assure everyone that all necessary agencies are on ground to ensure safety at the site.We want to implore people to stay away from the scene,” Farinloye said.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, there is no cause for alarm as Police and other agencies are present at the scene.

“The police and other agencies are in the Area to cordoned off the situation and to protect lives and property and avoid casualties. Situation under control,” he said. (The Guardian)
