Immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, has accused his successor, Adams Oshiomhole, of running the party in an ‘agbero-like’ manner, thereby alienating members.

He said Oshiomhole lacked the leadership capacity necessary to move the party forward.

Odigie-Oyegun made the assertions in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Ray Morphy, on Sunday.

The statement, was in response to accusations by six South-South APC state chairmen on Friday that he, Odigie-Oyegun, was the architect of the problems plaguing the party in Zamfara and other states.

While exonerating himself from the crisis in the party, the former APC National Chairman said Oshiomhole’s temperament was not suited to leadership.

He further accused him of being offensive in speech and so, steps on toes.

Odigie-Oyegun said: “Oshiomhole fails because he lacks the temperament required to run a political party.

“He lacks the capacity to manage different interests and tendencies that constitute a political party.

“He engages his mouth before engaging his mind, so he offends party members, so how does that constitute traps by Oyegun?”

He recalled instances of voiced grievances by party members noting that already, the Deputy National Chairman, North, has confirmed that Oshiomhole runs the party without recourse to the National Working Committee, NWC, and acts in direct opposite to its decisions.

He also insisted that many party men were against the National Chairman because of unfair treatment and injustice dished out to them during the party’s last primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“Only a bad carpenter quarrels with his tools, indeed Oshiomhole is degrading and de-marketing the party, rather than seek to bring more people on board, he is chasing people out of the party with his agbero style of engagement,” Odigie-Oyegun said.

Recall that Sen. Lawal Shuaibu, APC Deputy National Chairman, North, had recently called on Oshiomhole to resign for allegedly failing to add value to the party since his election.
