The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 356 more cases of COVID-19 in the country.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 78,790.

According to the NCDC, the new cases were confirmed on Monday, December 21, from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with the FCT reporting the highest number.

The health agency’s update published late Monday night on its website, indicated that six fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours thus raising the overall death toll to 1,227.

The agency also indicated that 180 cases were discharged on the day in review. It said the discharges included 59 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

With the latest discharges, the total number of discharged cases now stands at 68,483.

The new infections were reported as follows: FCT-79, Lagos-59, Kaduna-56, Katsina-37, Nasarawa-30, Kano-25, Edo-18, Gombe-14, Kebbi-12, Akwa Ibom-7, Rivers-7, Sokoto-7, Abia-3, Ogun-1 and

Cross River -1.
