Man Electrocuted In Church Premises While Trimming A Tree

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kontien, Gboko local government in Benue state,  Mr. Iortim Richard, has been electrocuted.

The Next Edition gathered that late Richard was electrocuted on top of a mango tree in the church premises in the early hours of Monday, while trying to trim it.

Officials of the church declined comments but an eyewitness who gave his name as Lubem said “This man just returned from the bank where he ran an errand for the resident pastor of the church and he was asked to trim the mango tree from the top.

He stated that while he was trimming the tree, he accidentally hit a power line and got electrocuted. “He died on the spot and his body was seen hanging on the tree,” he added.

Leader of the rescue team, Mr. Darkman told journalists that they offered a free service to bring down the victim from the tree following the police and Mr. Lubem’s interventions.

Some of the sympathizers who spoke with our correspondent commended the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Gboko A Division, CSP Nelson Iorhemba, for sending his team to the scene of the incident as well as the DSS and other prominent people who calmed the tension from the youths who were angry with the church officials.
