The Benue State Police Command has assured residents of its preparedness to secure lives and property during the Sallah celebrations.
The state Commisioner of Police, CP Mukaddas Garba, who addressed newsmen in his office said the Command has deployed adequate security personnel to ensure a hitch-free and peaceful celebration of Eid’ El Kabir.
According to him, the measure was part of comprehensive security arrangements put in place to maintain law and order as well as protect lives and property during the festive season.
“For the forthcoming Eid’ El Kabir, I want to assure you that we are fully prepared. We have made all our plans and deployments.
“Our opretaion order is ready and we have already posted policemen to various places and by the grace of God, we are going to have a hitch free Sallah celebration,” he said.
Garba further expressed the command’s commitment to ensure a crime-free Benue saying his men are everywhere to keep an eye on every nook and cranny of the state within this period and beyond.
Speaking on a recent robbery involving a Keke operator, the Commissioner called on the members of the public to be at alert and cooperate with the police to fish out real criminals.
He stated that since criminals have changed their mode of operation, the police also needs to change their own to enable them apprehend criminals.
He added that the command will intensify surveillance, high visibility patrols, stop and search, intelligence and information gathering among others to ensure security of all.
He advised all residents to take proper care of themselves and be mindful of the kind of keke or motorcyclist they take when going out.
The Commissioner also called on members of the public to be security conscious at all times and report suspicious movements to the security agencies, pledging that all issues of insecurity in the state will be adequately addressed.
