Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said the judgment of the Benue State Governorship Election Tribunal is victory for the people of the state who elected him for a second term.
The Governor in a press starent signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, stated that the verdict of the tribunal has confirmed the unanimous decision of Benue voters and has proven that his re-election was credible.
He returned all the glory and praise to God Almighty for honouring him with the mandate to lead the state for another term.
Gov. Ortom also appreciated the leadership and members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, as well as other Benue people for the support given to him before, during and after the polls.
He specifically commended his legal team for their sterling performance during proceedings of the tribunal to secure the mandate.
The governor declared that the victory at the tribunal is for every Benue person and stressed that the task of building the state is the responsibility of all her people.
Ortom also extended a hand of fellowship to the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2019 governorship election, Emmanuel Jime and other contestants in the election to join him in the task of governance saying politics is over; now is time for governance.
The Governor assured that his administration is willing to collaborate with Benue sons and daughters irrespective of political differences, ethnicity, religion and place of origin.

He restated the commitment of the present administration to the provision of selfless service to the people.
Celebrating the Victory in Government House Makurdi, the Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu said the victory is a clear testimony that one with God is majority.
He said Ortom has created history in his political carrer having left his party to win election in the opposition in 2015 and left the party again to his former party to also win his second term in office.
“Today we dedicate this victory to God because only God can do this. We dedicate this victory to the Benue people. We dedicate this victory to the Benue women who have stood solidly behind him.”
Abounu also thanked in a special way the Benue First lady, Mrs. Eunice Ortom and his wife, Mrs. Abounu for their prayers and support to the success of Ortom’s administration.
Also, Speaker Benue State House of Assembly, (BHA), Mr. Titus Ubah noted that the judiciary has grown beyond any might whether local, state or federal.
He commended the judiciary saying the judgment is a testimony that “if you seek for justice, you shall get justice.”
