Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba, said his victory at the tribunal, on Monday was predestined by God.

The speaker stated this at his Makurdi residence while speaking to newsmen on the validation of his return at the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi.

Uba who stated that the victory is not for him alone, said it was also for his opponent, Uja Matu, whom he said is his brother.

Mr. Uja Matu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had petitioned the National and State Assembly Petition Tribunal challenging the re-election of Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The tribunal in their judgement had ruled in favour of the speaker stating that the witnesses brought by the petitioner were lying on oath as their statements were not in consonance with what transpired in the field.

According to Uba, “the victory is not for me alone. It is also for my brother who took me to the tribunal because, if I had lost that case, the speakership will no longer go to Vandeikya or Jechira.

“This victory has been predetermined by God before the creation of the World,” he insisted.

Uba who said he is extending a hand of brotherliness to his opponent said, “All this while, I have been expecting his call. I have been timing and after a little while, if he does not call, I will call him.”

He stated that what happened at the tribunal was a brotherly wrestling and called on Mr. Matu to come home so they can have a brotherly bath and celebrate.

Mr Uba said he is already enjoying unprecedented support from members of the 9th Assembly saying with the victory, he is at peace and in a better position to lead the House towards achieving its excellent projections for the year.
