The Peoples Democratic Party has called on Nigerians to pray for the country over the tragic incidents in the country lately.
The party made the call on Friday against the backdrop of the petrol tanker fire incident that claimed nine lives and 54 vehicles in Lagos on Thursday.
The disaster occurred when a petrol tanker fell on Otedola area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and spilled its content.
“Reviewing the tragic incidents, PDP lamented that the nation has witnessed a lot of tragedies and deaths in the recent time and urged all people of faith across the country to supplicate for the nation at this trying time,” the party said.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said it was deeply grieved by the incident which it described as “shocking, horrid and traumatising.”
The statement reads in part: “Indeed, PDP mourns. Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of the deceased. We join in praying that God grants the bereaved families the fortitude to bear their grief as well as speedy recovery for the wounded.
“In the same vein, the PDP condoles with the victims of the torrential rainfall that claimed the lives of some residents, devastated communities and farms in Katsina State.
“The party prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims while urging public-spirited individuals and groups to support the government of Katsina State in finding succour for those who encountered losses in the storm.”
