President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has explained the reason for the delay in sending the 2018 budget to President Muhammadu Buhari since it was passed by the National Assembly.
He explained that the need to harmonise the budget by the two chambers of the National Assembly was responsible for the delay.
He however said by Friday, the document would get to the president.
The budget which was passed by the National Assembly on May 16 was raised from 8.6 trillion to 9.1 trillion.

Saraki spoke on Thursday when he led some lawmakers to the Presidential Villa to break the day’s fast with the president.
It would be recalled that the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, revealed that days after the budget was passed by the National Assembly, the president was yet to receive it.
He, however, said once the budget was received, the Executive arm of government would urgently attend to it to prevent further delay.
He explained that continued delay of the budget would have a negative effect on the economy.
