Protests by members of staff and students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, at the court forced a judge in Osun State, David Oladimeji, to reverse his decisions.
The judge had earlier ordered that the former vice chancellor of the school, Anthony Elujoba, who is standing trial over alleged financial misappropriation be detained at Ilesha Prison till July 19 when his bail application would be considered.
But angered by the order, students and staff present locked down the court in protest.
They insisted that Elujoba must not be taken to the prison except the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, where he had been.
It was gathered that the protesters blocked entrance to the court premises, obstructing movements and other activities.
The protest lasted about 30 minutes, and the judge, was reported to have called the prosecuting and defence counsel into his chambers and changed the ruling to favour the requests of the demonstrators.
He ruled that Elujoba be returned to EFCC custody while the bail application should be brought forward to July 14.
The reversal brought an end to the protests.
