Police have rounded two of the three-man gang of robbers, who stormed the Mpape branch of the First Bank in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with intent to rob it, while killing the third, in an operation that brought the activities of the otherwise boisterious area to a halt.

Men of the FCT command of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), joined by army personnel, had surrounded the bank and trapped the robbers, making it impossible for them to escape, hours after attempting to rob the branch.

Two of the robbers have surrendered while one who disguised in security uniform has been killed, in the incident, which scared away many of the residents, causing the otherwise busy area to be deserted.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, told reporters that normalcy had been restored, while the police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, confirmed the arrest of the bank staff , who was acted as an insider for the four suspects.
