The kidnapping kingpin under arrest, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, who is popularly known as Evans, has announced that his arrest marked the beginning of the end of kidnapping in the country.
According to him, that was because the sophistication of his gang in the execution of their activities could not be matched by any other.
Evans made the remark to journalists when he led a team of policemen from the Federal Anti-kidnapping Unit to his detention camps.
At the camps located at Igando and Ikotun area of Lagos State, his victims were kept hostage until their ransom were paid.
It would be recalled that on June 10, Evans was arrested in one of his houses located at the highbrow area of Magodo.
His arrest was effected by the Joint Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team, the Lagos State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Technical and Intelligent Unit of the Force under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.
Evans was paraded along with some members of his gang at the headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood.
Described as brilliant and very rich, Evans had also confessed to collecting his ransom in millions of dollars.
He is 36 years old.
