Police Arraign 4 Applicants For Alleged Car Theft

The Police on Tuesday charged four unemployed men before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a car valued at N15 million.

The defendants, Innocent Enoch, 28; Innocent Gideon, 24; Promise Gambo, 30 and Moses Selzing, 34, whose addresses were not given, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Police prosecutor, Insp. Christopher John, submitted that the defendants stole one BMW Saloon Car with registration number BDG521CE, worth N15 million, property of one Mr. Kojo Etete.

John told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 7 at about 12.00 p.m. at No. 1 Salvation Rd., Itedo Estate, Lekki, Lagos.

John said the offences violated Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs K. A. Ariyo, admitted the defendants to N1 million bail each with two sureties in like sum.

Ariyo ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and should have evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State government as part of the bail conditions.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Feb. 28 for mention. (NAN)
