The number of persons in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial hub, infected with the Coronavirus has exceeded 2,000.
With the confirmation of 51 new cases by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday, the total number of cases in the state climbed to 2, 041.
This is nearly half of the total Coronavirus cases in the country which as of Wednesday night stood at 4, 971.

The state, which is the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria also has the highest number of recorded deaths from the disease, accounting for 33 out of a national tally of 164.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the state government announced that 26 Coronavirus patients who had made full recovery had been discharged, taking the number of patients successfully managed in the state to 528.
This is also nearly half the total number of persons who have recovered from the disease in the country which has been put at 1,070 by the NCDC.
Currently, there are 1,480 active Coronavirus cases in the state.
