Lagos State, the epicentre of the Coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria, has recorded 97 new cases of the disease.
This is according to data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday.
With the new cases, the total number of persons infected with COVID-19 in the state is now 1,764.
Also, as of Friday evening, the state had recorded 33 deaths from COVID-19 related complications and discharged 448 persons who had made full recovery.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, displeased with the manner Lagosians have carried themselves following the easing of the lockdown in the state, has threatened to lockdown the state a second time.
Recall that the state, alongside Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory had been place on lockdown by President Muhammadu Buhari on March 31.

The lockdown, which lasted five weeks was partially eased on Monday, May 4.
However, Lagosians have consistently disregarded the advisory on social distancing and wearing of masks in public.
Addressing newsmen on Saturday, Gov. Sanwo-Olu warned that his government will not hesitate to slam another lockdown on the state if residents continued to disregard the health advisories.
“As a government elected to uphold the security of its citizens, which includes health security, we will not hesitate to review the terms of #EasingTheLockdown if we do not see an improvement in the adherence to our public health guidelines over the next couple of days.
“Despite massive advocacy, it is disappointing to see the crowd at banks & markets across the state flouting the guidelines.
“We will be forced to take the painful decision of bringing the state under lockdown if it remains clear that Lagosians are determined to flout the rules,” he said.
