Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the September 22 Osun State election.
On Friday, he defeated other contestants in a direct primary of the party, polling 127,017 votes.
His closest contestant, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun recorded 21,000 votes while the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Nojeem Salaam, came third.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who represented Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, the chairman of the election committee, announced the result Friday night at the APC secretariat in Osobgbo, Osun State.
He declared that “Having won the majority votes, I declare Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola as the official flag bearer for the September 22 governorship election.”
Oyetola is the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Omo-Agege praised the aspirants for conducting themselves well during the election.
The election was held in 332 wards across the state.

Some of the aspirants for the party’s ticket withdrew at the last minute.
Among them were the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti; Sen. Babajide Omoworare and Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Peter Babalola.
