Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Wednesday met in Abuja with Ambassadors of European countries under the auspices of European Union, EU, to deliberate on various areas of partnership for development.
The Next Edition reports that Agriculture and other subsectors of the economy were on the front burner of the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Gov. Ortom intimated the European Union delegation on efforts his administration is making to develop the agriculture value chain from production to processing.
He appreciated the EU team for taking steps to deepen the relationship between it and Benue State and assured that the state would harness opportunities derivable from ties with European countries.
Ortom solicited the support of the EU delegation in the areas of health, water supply, flood control and the resettlement of those displaced from their ancestral homes by armed herdsmen.

Head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Ketil Karlsen thanked Gov. Ortom for his presentation which he said had enabled the EU team to get a deeper perspective into the issues affecting the state.
He pledged the collaboration of the Union with the Benue State Government in addressing the issues.
A press statement issued to newsmen by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Terver Akase said the Governor was accompanied to the meeting by the Director General, Benue State Planning Commission, Mr. Sam Unom, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Timothy Ijir and that of Water Resources and Environment, Mr. Dondo Ahire.
Others were the Special Adviser on Development Cooperatives, Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Mrs. Magdalyne Dura and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase.
