Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Political Matters, has tasked the in-coming 7th State Assembly on review of the state’s laws.
According to him, “there are areas concerning the judiciary that we really need to look at some of the laws that require reformation. Certain courts need to be put in place like the traffic courts and some other miscellaneous offences courts that are not in place. These things are also going to help in revenue drive and there is need for the Assembly to begin to look into all that.”
The governor’s aide, who spoke in Awka on expectations of the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly, explained that there was an urgent need for a general revision of the laws of state in many areas, as they have not been reviewed for about 50 years now.

The former House of Assembly member in the old Anambra State said the legislators needed to revisit the state’s laws to bring them in tune with current realities in the federation, adding that there was need also for the lawmakers to be more proactive in the area of strict development.
Obiokoye, a one-time National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), noted that the lawmakers should be more resourceful and assiduous in their oversight duties to ensure that contractors handling projects in Anambra State, did not shortchange the state government.
