NMA Lays Foundation For Multi Billion Naira Headquarters

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has pledged timely completion of its multi billion naira headquarters’ building in Abuja, using indigenous construction experts.

The President of the Association, Dr. Francis Faduyile, said this at the ground breaking ceremony of the proposed seven-storey-building on Wednesday.

Faduyile said that the project, which would cost over eight billion naira, would boost the image of NMA when completed.

He explained that the project was delayed because the association had legal battles over the ownership of the plot of land located in the Maitama Area of Abuja.

He said that it took the commitment and doggedness of the NMA executives to win most of the cases to arrive at the actual commencement of the building.

“We met a lot of court cases on this land and resolving those cases took a lot of time. But we are happy that everything is fine now and the actual construction is commencing,” Faduyile said.

He commended members of the association, its local organising committee, the building committee headed by Dr. Frank Odafe and other stakeholders for their determination and doggedness.

The NMA President promised that the building would be ready in a few years time.

On the choice of an indigenous company for the construction of the building, he said that as an association, NMA encouraged the use of indigenous professionals to achieve its aim.

He also commended Dutum Construction Company Limited, the firm handling the project, for being resolute in ensuring the commencement of the work.

Speaking on behalf of the building committee, Odafe said that with God on the committee’s side, the building would be delivered in due time.

Also, the Managing Director of the construction company, Mr. Tope Runsewe, appreciated the NMA for trusting them with the project.

He gave assurance that the company would deploy all the professionalism at its disposal to ensure that the building was completed in due course according to specifications.
