The newly appointed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, could not hold back tears on Wednesday when he received his letter of appointment at the Kano Government House Coronation Hall, Kano State.
Bayero, who broke down in tears recalled how his father, the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero taught them about importance of tolerance, patience and simplicity.
His letter of engagement was handed over to him by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Bayero was announced as the new Emir of Kano on Monday following the dethronement and banishment of his predecessor, Lamido Sanusi by the state government.
Also at the ceremony on Wednesday, Bayero was elevated as the Chairman, Council of Emirs by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje while his brother, Nasiru Ado Bayero was made the Emir of Bichi to replace him.
In their separate remarks, the emirs thanked Almighty God for giving them the opportunity to ascend the throne.
They also pledged to justify the confidence reposed on them by the people and promised to carry everybody along.
They also assured Ganduje of their readiness to ensure that his vision in free education, banning of Almajiri system were completely achieved.

A visibly excited Aminu Ado Bayero, promised to follow in his late father’s footsteps in handling his kingship.
He said, “Our father has been preaching peace, tolerance, love, harmony and unity, which he said remain the best critical tools for a better society.
“Today, we are making history in Kano, by God’s grace, we will not let down the people of Kano. We will do all we can to ensure that we give our maximum support to the government,” he said.
Speaking, Gov. Ganduje said Kano made history after two brothers were appointed Emirs and together received their letters amid excitement.
He urged them to uphold the good virtues exhibited by their late father.
Ganduje explained that their selection was in line with the people’s choice and urged them to “strive hard to unite the people of your respective Emirates irrespective of their differences.”
He said the new Emirates created in the state would enhance Development and bring the traditional institution much closer to the people.
He also noted that “the people of Kano have been so happy without conflicts, no disharmony, no rancour,” about his government’s decision adding “it is a celebration galore all along with the Kano citizens jubilating and expressing deep sense of happiness.”
Ganduje further noted that his reforms in the Emirate System have been fully achieved with the recent development.
