Following the criticism and a warning that Buhari should not contest in the 2019 presidential election, Obasanjo had been condemned.

One of such critics of Obasanjo is the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Professor Itse Sagay.

He described Obasanjo’s warning as insulting and urged him to learn to respect other people.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sagay said it was unfortunate that Obasanjo who wanted a third term for himself was advising another person not to go for a second term.

His words:  “I saw Obasanjo’s comments and I could not believe my eyes that a man who tried to get a third term is discouraging someone else from getting a second term. It doesn’t make sense.”

But reacting to the attack on Obasanjo, Omokri, on his twitter handle described the former leader as a national treasure unlike Buhari.

He said in terms of achievements, Obasanjo had much things to boast of than Buhari.

His words:  “Those attacking Obasanjo for his letter should note that Obasanjo is a National Treasure while Buhari is a National Mistake. That a butterfly and a bird both fly doesn’t make both of them birds.

“Obasanjo is a leader while Buhari is a lid. He doesn’t lead Nigeria. He is a lid on Nigeria!”
