Senator Ademola Adeleke, had gone to the Tribunal to challenge the result of the September 22, Osun State governorship election.

Meanwhile, Adeleke has vowed to reclaim the mandate duly given by Osun people on September 22nd.

At Monday’s hearing, Mohammed Sirajo, Chairman of the Tribunal appealed to parties to suit to be conscious of time.

Counsel to Gboyega Oyetola, declared winner of the election, the electoral commission and the All Progressive Congress, had claimed they have not been served with some papers even as it reminded the Tribunal that it still had a day left to respond to the motions.

The Adeleke team represented by Chief N.O. Oke however claimed to have filed all necessary papers. The claim of the Adeleke team was confirmed by the court registrar who on the order of the Tribunal chairman came up with evidence of all filed motions.

To prevent further delay, the judge directed all papers filed by the Adeleke team to be served on the respondents again directly in the presence of all parties.

The tribunal chairman told all parties in the case that he wanted all processes to be completed as quickly as possible, warning that time was of essence in the case at hand.

In his bid to ensure time consciousness, the chairman also raised the issue of a motion on evidence filed by the Adeleke team. The team eager to avoid any further delay also withdrew the motion, an action which was endorsed by all parties.

Subsequently, the case was adjourned to 5th of December for the commencement of pre-hearing.

Speaking after the hearing, Sen. Ademola Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the hearing so far, affirming the he would retrieve the stolen mandate of Osun people.

Urging Osun people to remain patient, Adeleke noted that the judiciary was the home of justice, adding that “the votes of Osun people must count. The mandate of Osun people will be returned to me by God’s grace,” he said.
