Mother Who Assaulted, Bloodied 12-year-old Son Remanded

An Ikeja Magistrate court on Tuesday remanded Mrs. Bilikisu Musa in the female section of the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS) facility for allegedly assaulting her 12-year-old son.

Magistrate Peter Nwaka who ordered her remand after taking her plea said that she would remain in custody of the NCS until she perfects her bail conditions.

Earlier, Police prosecutor, Sgt. O. Felicia told the court that Bilikisu committed the offence on February 29, 2020 at about 9.00a.m at 66, Morricas Road, Agege, Lagos.

She said the defendant allegedly assaulted her son by beating and caused him bodily harm.

The charge against Bilikisu read: “That you Bilikisu Musa, on 29th day of February, 2020 at about 9.00 a.m at 66, Morricas Road, Agege, Lagos in Ikeja Magisterial district, did unlawfully assault [the 12-year-old] by beating him with wire on his head which caused him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015″.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Nwaka adjourned the case to April 29.
