Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has denied making a N1billion donation to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The denial was contained in a statement signed by his media aide Valentine Obienyem on Tuesday.
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the last general elections said: “I have not donated to the fund,” referring to the COVID-19 fund.
Recall that there is a list of purported donors to the COVID-19 fund making the rounds in the social media where Obi’s name appears as number 33 with a donation of one billion.
Reacting to the list, Obi noted that the issue at hand was scary and of great importance to the world, especially Nigeria and should not be subject of any form of fake news.

He, urged those behind the purported list to desist from such act.
“As a Nigerian, I am deeply worried about the situation in the world, especially what Nigeria and her citizens are going through. I had earlier made a case for the vulnerable and advised that their plight should be a priority in any decision on how to fight the pandemic.
“I urged more support from individuals and organizations according to abilities, to tackle what he described as global catastrophe”, he stated.
While expressing appreciation to those who have made donations to towards curtailing the spread of COVID-9 in the country, Obi assured of his commitment to be part of the solution to the menace, stating that he is making his own contribution in his own way.
