He stated this at the secretariat of the NUJ Correspondents’ chapel in Akure while explaining his programmes for the people of the state, if elected.

Jegede, the PDP governorship candidate in 2016, lamented the high cost of healthcare in the state, which he said was out of reach of the poor.

He said: “It is sad that healthcare is out of reach of the vulnerable in our state. The cost of medical services is very high beyond what the vulnerable can afford because the All Progressives Congress-led administration wants to generate revenue.

“We need to build a secondary hospital with modern facilities so that the vulnerable can have access to healthcare. The vulnerable should not be deprived of medical services.”

On the education sector, Jegede expressed his displeasure with the outrageous rise in fees in state-owned tertiary institutions in the state, which he observed had frustrated some students to drop out of school.
