The Bishop died at the early hours of Friday, February 14, 2020.
Ortom described the demise of Adoboh as painful, not only to the Catholic Church, but to Benue State at large.
He stated that the late Bishop was a true servant of God who stood for peace and worked tirelessly to win souls for Jesus Christ.
The Governor recalls the pivotal role Bishop Adoboh played towards the success of the State Government’s amnesty programme which led to the recovery of thousands of weapons and hundreds of youths embracing the initiative, among several other efforts the Bishop made to ensure the restoration of peace and security to Sankera area of the state in particular.
He sympathized with the Adoboh family, Katsina-Ala Catholic Diocese and the entire Christian community in Benue State and prayed for the repose of the soul of the Bishop.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Church in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of Bishop Peter Iornzuul Adoboh.

Adoboh died at the age of 62 after a long struggle with ill-health.
Speaking during a homily at St Dominic’s Catholic Church, Makurdi, Rev Fr. Michael Murphy described his death as a big loss to the Christian family particularly those in Benue and Katsina Ala.
Fr. Murphy said Adoboh was a humble and good man whose leadership examples would be missed.
Murphy, who prayed for the reposed of the soul of the Bishop and for the consolation of the Diocese of Katsina Ala who have lost their shepherd, asked God to provide them with a new leader.
Bishop Adoboh was born on April 14, 1958 to the family of Abraham and Sarah Adoboh of Mbayion in Gboko local government area of Benue State, Nigeria.
