Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Umar Muhammad Kabir Umar II as the 12th Emir of Katagum.
According to a statement by the Special Assistant, Communication, to the Governor, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, the confirmation by the government followed the recommendation of the Katagum Emirate Kingmakers.

The letter of confirmation was personally delivered by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Nadada Umar.
