Four Remanded for Defiling, Impregnating 15 Year-old girl

Four men have been remanded in prison custody on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping and impregnating a 15- year-old girl.

Three of the men; Stanley Igen, 33, Stephen Godwin, 33 and Henry Obo, 25, are to be remanded in Kirikiri Prison, while the fourth accused person, a teenager, is to be kept at the Correctional Homes, Adigbe, Abeokuta, pending advice from DPPs.

The Magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, adjourned the case until July 15 for mention and ordered the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP

The court did not take the pleas of the defendants.

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, the defendants, who all reside at Anifowose, Ikeja, Lagos, are facing a one count charge of defilement, an offence which they allegedly committed between 2018 and 2019 at their residence.

The offence, he said contravenes the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and carries a punishment of life imprisonment.

Ayorinde, told the court that the victim, who is six months pregnant is an orphan.
