The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has congratulated Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his first anniversary as the Osun State chief executive.
Mr. Debo Adeniran, CACOL Executive Chairman, in a letter written to the governor a copy of which was made available to NEXT EDITION, said since he mounted the saddle, Oyetola had steadily and determinedly concentrated on turning the socio-economic condition of the state around for good.
Adeniran, while pledging CACOL’s full and unalloyed commitment and support to Oyetola administration, said the anti-graft body had commenced the Osun state version of ‘Lagos Open Parliament (LOP) christened Osun Open Parliament (OOP), which would kick-start this year.
This effort, he said, was to examine areas of achievements and fulfillments of campaign promises and more to the people of Osun state, and to also serve as clarion call to their concerns and likely disappointments.
Adeniran added: “Though you were part and parcel of the last administration, ably led by our erudite and cerebral icon, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, currently on a national assignment, your emergence was made even sweeter by those experiences, especially the legal hurdles you had to surmount before the ship of administration could finally set sail.”
He maintained that Osun State could not be said to have lacked competent men and women to steer its affairs in words and in deeds since its official creation and extraction from old Oyo State on August 27, 1991.
According to him, “Since that epochal creation of our noble state and now on your assumption into the exalted governorship position, our state has been growing from leaps and bounds as we traversed the idyllic and rural setting to an urbane, cosmopolitan state that is ready to prove its mettle in the comity of states within the Nigerian federation.

“There is no doubt too that we have had our own fair share of challenges as a budding state, one of which includes transiting seamlessly from one administration to another through a democratic process; since we all agreed that this must be our ideal model for power attainment and governance amongst our people.
It is, therefore, to the credit of our great indigenes of our state, that we achieved this without any let or hindrance or shedding of blood of any type.
“Also, we are closely monitoring your remarkable strides and efforts at transforming State of Osun from its ‘Civil Servant’ state to a modern agrarian and industrialised state where all its endowments of tourism are adequately tapped for the benefits of all.
“Aside our natural, rich resources like bauxite, gold, marble, uranium, etc., Osun Osogbo Spring fall is just one of many tourist attractions we boast of, perhaps more than any other states throughout the federation.
“This is in addition to friendly and fertile soil and weather that provided much of the cocoa pyramid during the era of the Western region from which most achievements were made.
We have no doubt that you have steadily and determinedly concentrated in turning the socioeconomic fate of the state around for good in this regard.
“As CACOL, we pledge our full and unalloyed commitment and support in riding on this journey with you in our own peculiar ways. This is why we have commenced the Osun state version of ‘Lagos Open Parliament (LOP) christened Osun Open Parliament (OOP) which is kick starting this year, all things being equal.
“It is to examine areas of achievements and fulfillments of campaign promises and more to the good people of our cherished state while it also serves as clarion call to their concerns and likely disappointments.”
