The Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg was interrupted in the second minute on Sunday.
This is because two men tied themselves to both posts of Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp’s goal.
The reason for the protest appeared to be environmental.
The men wore T-shirts with the inscription: “Last Generation – Stop the fossil fuel madness.”
As the hosts were on the attack at the other end, the two men ran onto the field past stewards, stood against the posts and tied themselves by the neck.
Trapp spoke briefly with one of the men involved, while fans booed from the stands.
After some minutes, the two individuals were removed from the posts and escorted off the field.

The game was then restarted.
There was a similar incident last month in the English Premier League.
During the Everton-Newcastle United match, a 21-year-old tied himself to a goalpost with a cable tie around his neck.
He was wearing a T-shirt with the inscription: “Just stop oil.”(dpa/NAN)
