The presidential candidate of the Providence Peoples Congress (PPC) in the 2019 election, Victor Okhai, has tipped the incumbent governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, to win the September 2020 governorship election in Edo State.

Okhai in an interview with The NEXT EDITION on Monday, said it was difficult to throw away the power of incumbency in Edo politics, even though some persons might claim that the power of federal might could be moving in the direction of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Okhai noted that even though Ize-Iyamu is not a push over in Edo politics, from all the calculations, the political sympathy seemed to be in favour of Governor Obaseki at this moment.

He said: “If you ask me quite frankly, the election is Iyamu to lose, especially considering what took place at Oba of Benin Palace recently, will give Governor Obaseki more sympathy votes considering his track records which Iyamu doesn’t have.”

Okhai noted that on the surface, Obaseki had an edge over Pastor Iyamu with all the baggage that former Governor Oshiomhole had hung on him.

Okhai added that the people of Edo should wait and see the unfolding political development in the state as it relates to this September governorship election.

He added that the performance of Obaseki in the last four years in office had obviously set a stage for the next four years in Edo State.

The former PPC presidential candidate recalled that when the going was still good between Oshiomhole and Obaseki, the sacked APC National Chairman said he (Obaseki) was the engine room or the think-tank of his (Oshomhole) administration, which obviously meant that in terms of all the development agenda of Oshiomhole, Obaseki was his brain power.
