Last night, Mavin’s First Lady, Tiwa Savage, headlined her first sold out show in the prestigious O2 Arena in London.
She was the headlining artiste with other members of the label featuring as supporting artistes.
The centre is a place for renowned artistes and has seen greats like Beyoncé, Adele, Ed Sheeran and a host of others grace the stage.
Just some months ago, Wizkid also performed at Arena and now Tiwa’s name is among the artists who have headlined a show on that stage.
Prior to the show, her ex-husband, Tee Billz, had a very sweet message for her on his Instagram page that reads: “When I told Shawty you’re gonna be the biggest female artist out of Africa… one of the best five out of Africa and she looked at me and said you’re crazy! How? Exactly how you sold out the 02 today!! Congratulations Mama J.”
Her record label boss, Don Jazzy, also posted a very insightful picture of her in rehearsals with her son, Jamil, in her arms and captioned it, “Passionately a mother. Passionately an entertainer. This is TIWA, the only SAVAGE we know. See y’all tonight.”
The picture got lots of likes and many other celebrities reposted it congratulating her.
Renowned model, Naomi Campbell commented on the picture and congratulated her as well.
Prior to the show she had an interview with British Vogue where she talked about what it means to be a female performer, smashing the male stereotype.
On Afrobeat and conquering the male stereotypes she said, “Afrobeat is very male-dominated, so most of my fans are female. Women identify with my music, with my lyrics, and I really use that to my advantage.”
She also had a pop up shop in London two days before the show selling tour mercy like hoodies, shirts, and other accessories.
The show featured performances from Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Dr. Sid, D’ija and Awilo.
The show has been having great reviews from those who attended on Twitter.
Kelle Salle of @kelle_S6 says “Before I sign out, I have to say that the Tiwa Savage show was absolutely amazing. She was definitely born to perform.”
Blessing Samuel from @Bleesam01 says, “We had the best concert ever!! Tiwa Savage is actually more than a Queen!! It was a Vibe!!”
