Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed deep sadness over the death of a Director and Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology, Mr Seker Akaa, who died with his wife and two children in a fire incident at their Makurdi residence in the early hours of Monday.
The Governor in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase said the death of Mr. Akaa and his family is a painful loss to the State Government and Benue in general.
He consoled the bereaved family as well as their friends and relations over the unfortunate incident and prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu had visited the area and equally expressed shock at the level of devastation caused by the fire.
The deputy governor who described the incident as a monumental disaster, said, ‘it is a black day for Benue’.
According to him, the State has lost a prized asset in Mr. Akaa. He prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
He promised that Government will take responsibility for their burial and also assist the other families who lost property to relocate.
