The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed that God revealed to him, the lockdown currently imposed across the world due to the ravaging novel Coronavirus.

Adeboye made this startling revelation during his Sunday message, which was broadcast to his congregants via the church’s Dove TV rather than the physical service because of the gathering limitation imposed by state governments in the country.

According to the cleric, he, however, refused to publicly declare the “compulsory holiday” God had forecasted to him for fear of being criticised by critics.

‘When God told me that the world will be on compulsory holiday I could not deliver the message because if it happens as it is happening now they will come for me that I had a foreknowledge of what is happening.

‘But from what you can see, the world is on lockdown. The major countries of the world are locked down, smaller countries will be on lockdown too,’ he said.

Making allusion to his prophecies at the beginning of the year, the RCCG General Overseer said the virus had come to stay.

Adeboye, speaking on the prophecy of Temiptope Joshua, Head of the Synagogue Church of Nations, who said the pandemic would come to an end on March 27, however, stated that the existence of the epidemic was for a reason, adding that the virus will subside once God has achieved his purpose.

He said: ‘I can only say amen to that. But what the Lord is telling me is that the virus has come to stay. It will subside but will remain in the background.

‘He wants to show the world that he is the one controlling the heavens and the earth. As soon as his purpose is achieved he will remove the plague but it will remain in the background.

‘Some may wonder why will God use a plague to make himself known he said, the question is who controls Satan? Before Satan could put sickness on Job he had to get permission from God. Satan can still be useful to God. That is why he is still being kept alive.’

He assured those he called his children not to fear, saying no plague will come near them.

‘For those who fasted and prayed when we asked them to do so they have no reason to fear. Those who did not fast can still fast,’ he said.

Adeboye also urged his congregants to take their personal hygiene serious, saying ‘cleanliness is next to godliness. You know we don’t joke with hygiene in this church. You need to stay clean and take all the precautions. And God will keep us safe’.
