The Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Education Development and Skills Aquisition Initiative ( CEDESA,) Mrs Ugbe Oluronke, has decried the upsurge in rape cases and gruesome killings of victims across the Country.
She described the gruesome killing of women and girls in the recent times as pathetic adding that it might consume Nigeria as a country if steps are not taken to ensure that perpetrators are heavily punished.
In a press release signed by Mrs Oluronke Ugbe, a copy made available to our Correspondent in Asaba on Sunday, she lamented the duhumanizating and degrading measures that have enveloped the girl child and called on the government including all relevant authourities to work out stiffer punishments for offenders
According to the statement, cases of sexual violence on women across the country hade remained on the increase since the outbreak of Covid-19 Pandemic disease.

She advised the girl child and women to arm themselves with tactics of self defence against the mean and wild men, adding “the rate at which rape and killing is occurring in our society is alarming and calls for urgent remedy and solution, these are trying period for our country and the government should come up with extant laws to discourage such acts by stipulating stiff penalties on offenders.”
The statement noted that sexual violence on the girl child can adversely affect her outlook on life, education, the opposite gender and society.
The CEDESA boss further noted that there should be campiagns against rape and sexual violence in whatever guise, adding “I think there is a serious need for radio and television jingles to enlighten the society about the colossal damage rape will do to the health status and academic pursuit of the girl child, and a girl should be trained to dress decently covering sensitive parts of her body, failure to do so will spark off anamalistic passion in the opposite gender and result in rape.”
