The National Council for Democratic Development (NCDD) has commended the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the appointment of the former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, as a member of the National Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Committee.

The NCDD while applauding the decision of the NEC, described Chief Nnamani as a “faithful leader and great pillar of note in the zone whose wealth of experience, charisma and integrity will serve to build more positive bridges for the progress of the Party.”

In a statement signed by Mr. Onu Prince Nwaeze, Executive Director, the group also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the timely intervention of the “drifting fortunes of the ruling party” occasioned by intra-party crisis.

The statement read:

“As APC through their National executive committee (NEC) birth by the intervention and steering leadership of President Buhari in the search for peace and reconciliation among the Party faithfuls, brought to bear, the composition of new Caretaker Committee (CTC) and convention committee, whose task among many, is to reinvigorate the fortunes of APC.

“We at National Council for Democratic Development applaud the timely intervention of President Buhari in arresting the drifting fortunes of APC through his intervention and Leadership. As a father, President Buhari respect for institutions (courts), leaders of across the Party, was demostrated by his cautious and measured intervention that acknowledged the position of the law, Party overall interest and Unity without dancing to emotions or any other interest.

“We appreciate and applaud the appointment of former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani to man the south east zone of the Party. A faithful Leader and great pillar of note in the zone whose wealth of experience, charisma and integrity will serve to build more positive Bridges for the progress of the Party.

“Of note, we acknowledge the impeccable leadership disposition of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma whose presence at the National Executive Committee(NEC) offered the People of South East a credible voice for excellence as the only Governor from the zone, whose leadership has brought Hope peace and progress for the south east zone of All Progressive Congress, APC.

“We congratulate the entire members of the Caretaker Committee as led by Malam Mai Buni as Chairman. We acknowledge his meritorious Contributions to the Party having had unblemish tenure as the National Secretary of APC.

“We charge all members of APC to give peace a chance and avoid needless litigations that may constitute as roadblocks to the search for genuine peace and reconciliation that this process will help bring to bear in the Party.”
