Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State says if re-elected, he would set a new record of development in Ibeno Local Government Area.
He made the promise on Wednesday at the Ibeno Council Secretariat during his second term campaign tour to the area.
Gov. Emmanuel, who said he would rewrite the history of Ibeno Local Government Area and put it on the world map, noted that the next development port of Nigeria will start from the Ibeno shoreline.
He promised to do everything humanly possible to see that the Qua Iboe Power Plant, QIPP, project becomes a reality, disclosing that the project would be re-awarded in March this year.
Emmanuel lamented the absence of a refinery or a kiosk to show despite the fact that the resources of this country come from Ibeno.

He used the occasion to make a case for the relocation of headquarters of the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, to Akwa Ibom State, saying it has no business in Lagos but in Akwa Ibom State where the oil is being drilled.
Earlier, while paying homage to the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, Gov. Emmanuel disclosed that plans were afoot to move the gas onshore to offshore and produce something out of it, saying “When that is done, development would be looking for Ibeno, not the other way round.”
The Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, HRM Owong Effiong Achiangha, JP, commended the Governor for lifting the plight of Ibeno, saying that he has rewritten the history of Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs by approving two-year tenure of which he is a beneficiary.
