Captain Tunde Shelle, former Lagos State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to be in crises at all levels.
While speaking on the crisis rocking the APC nationally and even in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Shelle told The NEXT EDITION that the party’s National Leader was beginning to lose strength and patronage, maintaining that members of the ruling party had been using him to intimidate Lagos people.
He stressed that but for the death of Funsho Williams, APC would have gone under in Lagos a long time ago.
“PDP is not like APC because we are going to conduct our primaries and we would get credible candidates for 2023. APC will continue to be in crisis from top to bottom and we will take advantage of its crisis to boost our party’s fortunes.
“It is a good thing that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has learnt its lesson and it would show that in 2023,” he said.
While reacting to the comment credited to Senator Seye Ogunlewe, former Minister of Works, that PDP was empty and would not get credible candidates in 2023, Shelle said he would not blame Ogunlewe because that was his style of politics and leadership.

He stressed that someone who was used to moving from one party to another should not be taken seriously, pointing out that having worked in the civil service and got to other leadership positions, the former minister should have shown restrain in some of his comments.
He regretted that some of the comments of the former lawmaker showed he was not sincere.
Shelle said: “Most Nigerians like controversies. They want to be where it is happening. PDP still has people with character, more people are joining us. But, we don’t want to make noise about that.
“You will not be surprised that Ogunlewe would attempt to return to the party. We don’t need people like him. Let him remain where he is”
Meanwhile, Babatunde Gbadamosi, former Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), along with his deputy governorship candidate, Mrs Abibat Adeosun, formally defected to PDP on Monday, and they were received by Mr. Adedeji Doherty, Lagos State chairman of the party.
