Anambra State Police Command has urged citizens to disregard the rumours of insecurity in parts of the state, saying that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure safety and security in the state.
The command added that such security measures including regular visibility patrols, intelligence gathering and constant raids of criminals’ hideouts in order to ensure safety and security in the entire Anambra State have been put in place.
A release by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Anambra State Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, dismissed the reports circulating on the social media calling on Ndi Anambra to avoid Aguleri -Nando – Awkuzu bypass as a result of insecurity.
Mohammed decried the report purporting that Fulani herdsmen with sophisticated weapons big enough to sack a military barracks were committing acts of robbery, abduction and demanding for ransom and beheading their victims in some cases along Aguleri, Nando and Awkuzu bypass.
He described the purveyors of such report as mischief makers who were not happy with the prevailing peace in the state which the Law enforcement agencies were working assiduously to maintain.
He warned those circulating such fake news to desist or face the full weight of the law.

The command further assured the citizens of adequate protection and urged them to disregard such rumours and go about their legitimate businesses.
The statement read in part; “The attention of the Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to online publication in the social media calling on “Ndi Anambra” to avoid – Aguleri -Nando – Awkuzu bypass,that “Fulani herdsmen with sophisticated cache of weapons big enough to sack a military barracks is in operation of robbery, abduction and demanding for ransom and beheading their victims in some cases.
“The publication is not only false but Mischievous, probably orchestrated by mischief makers who are not happy with the prevailing peace in the State which the Law enforcement agencies are working assiduously to maintain.
“ For the avoidance of doubt, there was no such incident in any part of the State as adequate security measures have been put out in place by the command through regular visibility patrols, intelligence gathering and constant Raids of criminal hideouts in order to ensure safety and security throughout the State.
“Persons circulating this fake news are warned to desist forthwith as any one apprehended will face the full wrath of the law. Finally, the Command further assures the citizens of adequate protection and urged them to disregard such rumour and go about their legitimate business, please.”
