The Chief Imam of Akwa Ibom State, Alhaji Muhammadu Adamu, has enjoined Muslims faithful and indigenes of the state to continue to live in peace with one another.
He flayed calls on Igbos to quit saying such calls coming at that time of the country’s development were diversionary and should be condemned by all.
Adamu who spoke Monday during the Sallah holidays advised Muslims in the state to continue to be peaceful with one another and abide by the teachings of Islam for a better society.
He said, “Peace and tranquility remain major pillars for sustainable development in any society, we must love our neighbours as we love ourselves.
“We must see one another as our brother and sister irrespective of tribe and religion. We must know that we are all Nigerians and Nigeria is our country.”
He lauded the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, and the people for providing congenial atmosphere for peace and tranquility to thrive in the state.
“Governor Udom Gabriel must be commended for the exemplary leadership qualities he has exhibited so far since he took over as governor of the state.
“He has created the enabling environment by ensuring that people in the state, irrespective of tribe and religion live in peace with one another, and this should be commended,” the Imam further stated.
Adamu expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of Ramadan fast, and for granting them mercy to observe the fast, in spite of the harsh economic situation.
“Good health is more than gold because when there is life there is hope for a better tomorrow,” he stressed.
The Ramadan Fast was observed peacefully throughout the the state.
