Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has described a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isoko Federal constituency, Chief Paul Eriri, as a liar.

He also described him as one lacking in adequate information about the achievement of his government.

Okowa was reacting to a statement by Eriri in which he described him as the worst governor Delta State ever had.

In a statement made by his aide on Special Duties (Media), Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, the governor said despite the recession in the nation, Governor Okowa in the past two years had fulfilled many of his campaign promises to the people of Delta.

The governor’s aide who spoke at the weekend in Asaba said Chief Erire needed to be enlightened because the state government led by Okowa had successfully completed and commissioned over 40 standard roads out of over 98 roads embarked upon in Delta State.
He said the government had created over 20,000 jobs through prudent management of resources and brought back the hitherto dead technical colleges in the state to life.

He stated further:  “Despite the challenges in the economy, the state has witnessed transformation under the SMART AGENDA which means Strategic Wealth creation projects and provision of jobs for all Deltans; Meaningful peace building platforms aimed at political and social harmony; Agricultural reforms and accelerated industrialization; Relevant Health and Education policies; Transformed environment through urban renewal.

“Talking about the agriculture sector in the state, in order to make farming easier in the state, the state government distributed tractors to 64 Cooperative Societies. Another set of 106 Cooperative Societies got Mellon Shellers while 18 other Cooperative Societies received Outboard Engines and Fishing Gears support packages.

“The state government also distributed improved variety of cassava cuttings, fertilizer, and cash to 475 cassava farmers; 100 fishery farmers were given fingerlings, feeds and cash; 100 poultry farmers were supported with 200-day-old chicks each, feeds and cash; 50 poultry layer farmers got 200 layers each, feeds and cash; 50 piggery farmers received 10 growers, feeds and cash; while 40 tomatoes farmers were supported with seedlings, agro-chemicals and cash.”

While calling on Deltans to disregard Chief Erire’s statement, he urged the PDP chieftain to be objective in his comments on the assessment of Governor Okowa’s administration by asking relevant questions and visiting the grassroots to verify all the government’s achievement.
