The Nigerian Navy has got a new spokesman.  He is Comdr. Ayo Olugbode.

He resumed on Sunday in Abuja, taking over from Navy Capt. Suleman Dahun.

Until his new appointment, Olugbode was the Assistant Director, Civil/Military Relations, Naval Headquarters.

He had held the post of Defence Adviser, Nigeria High Commission, India, with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal, South Korea, Singapore and Sri-Lanka.

He was at a time, the Executive Officer, NN Ship, OBULA.

In his speech during the taking over of office, he pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor.

He also appealed to the personnel in the Directorate of Information to support him the way they supported his predecessor.

According to him, by so doing, they would achieve success together.

His predecessor, Dahun who spoke at the occasion too, was thankful for the opportunity to serve.

He implored the personnel to give Olugbode maximum support and expressed his willingness to assist when called upon.

His words:  “We were able to achieve what we achieved simply because you gave me the necessary support and understanding I needed.

“In any position we find ourselves in life, with good relationship, cooperation and understanding from the people you work with, you will definitely succeed…

 “So long I remain in service and even if I am no longer in service, I will always be loyal to the service.”
