The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, was on Sunday shut down indefinitely.

This followed a violent protest embarked upon by students of the institution over the death of two of their colleagues.

The Registrar of the institution, Mrs. Sade Adediran, who announced the immediate and indefinite closure of the school, however did not confirm the death of any student at the school.

In the statement issued by Adeniran, any student found on campus after the closure would be penalized.

It was gathered that two of the students who complained of malaria and were taken to the school clinic died Saturday morning.

On learning of their death, it was gathered, students mobilized and burnt down the school clinic.

The students were reported to have also destroyed other property and prevented movement of vehicles on the roads leading to the school.

The students complained of lack of drugs at the school clinic.

According to them, paracetamol was the only drug available at the clinic.
