Three persons were confirmed dead on Wednesday while two others sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident involving a Man diesel truck and a Toyota corolla car around Ajegunle on Papalanto-Ilaro Road in Ogun.

Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi said that the accident, which occurred around 8:25a.m. as the speeding truck suddenly lost control due to break failure and collided with the corrola coming from the opposite direction.

He said that five people were in the Toyota car marked JJJ 91 GD while two people were in the truck, adding that the three persons that died and the two injured were in the car.

The TRACE spokesman added that the injured victims were taken to Ilaro General Hospital while the bodies of deceased were deposited at same hospital mortuary.

“The truck was inbound Papalanto from Ilaro while the Toyota Corola car was outbound Papalanto to Ilaro when the crash occurred.

“According to a witness account, the truck was on top speed when it suddenly lost control due to break failure and collided with the car that was coming from the opposite direction.

“The accidented vehicles have been deposited at Ewekoro Divisional Police Command, including the truck driver and the motor boy,” he said.

He commiserated with the families of the deceased and enjoined motorists to avoid speeding as well as ensure maintenance of their vehicles before setting out on a journey.
