The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has denied a report that its leadership has endorsed a presidential aspirant to emerge as its candidate ahead of the 2019 election.

“Nothing can be farther from the truth,” the party said in a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd).

He said the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee of the party had repeatedly made it clear that its congresses would be free, fair, transparent and open.

According to him, the transparent primaries conducted in Ekiti State last month that produced the PDP flag bearer for the July 14 gubernatorial election was a testimony to the fact that the party was determined to pursue rule-driven processes.

He assured party members, particularly presidential aspirants and their supporters, that the contest would be open and transparent and Nigerians would be happy at the outcome.
