The police on Monday arraigned one Chineye Nwako before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly selling her one-day-old baby.
She was arraigned alongside one Happiness Bini who allegedly bought the baby.
The prosecutor, Ezekiel Ayorinde said Nwako sold her baby for the sum of N300,000.
The two were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, child trafficking and unlawful adoption.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to Ayorinde, the defendants committed the offences on October 4, 2019, around 10p.m on Oki Lane, Sari Iganmu area of Lagos.
He said that the defendants were arrested based on information received by the police that Bini was in possession of a baby suspected to have been stolen.
The prosecutor said the offences contravene sections 269, 276 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She ruled that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till February 3, 2020, for hearing.
