Betsy Obaseki, wife of the Edo State governor, has appealed to people of the state to use the period of the lockdown to get closer to God.

Mrs. Obaseki stated this while presenting relief materials to indigent and vulnerable persons, who are non-indigenes, at Government House, Benin City.

She urged the recipients to ensure that those who truly needed the materials got them, adding that the distribution of the relief materials would be continuous as the state continued to identify the most vulnerable at every stage of this COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs. Obaseki advised Edo people to use the period of the lockdown to take necessary rest that would lead to good and healthy living, strengthen family bond and most importantly, finding innovative ways of improving their economic lifestyles by producing some necessities which had become necessary due to the pandemic, such as face masks.

The period, she also said, should be a time to observe good hygiene and a time for sober reflection and strategising for a more productive lifestyle.

Mr. Anthony Otaroghene, Coordinator, Edo State non-Indigenes, in his response, said: “We are grateful and love the way the government called on us to get something to the non-indigenes residing in the state.

“While pledging our loyalty to the First Lady, we also assure her that these items will be delivered to the less privileged in our communities as directed by her.”

Executive Director, Norion Foundation, Lady Cynthia Ighodaro, also thanked Mrs Obaseki for the great opportunity, adding that, she had always had affection for widows.
